Maya Bayewitch
3D Generalist
What is your role and primary responsibilities at ADM?
As a CG Generalist, I am responsible for many parts of the 3D pipeline, including modeling, animation, rigging, compositing, editing, etc. I jump into projects wherever I am needed!
What is your professional background, and how did it lead you to your current position?
I worked as a CG Generalist for MAKE Visual, acted as Creative Lead for Relli Real Estate, was a 3D animator for Friday Lab, and worked as a freelancer on various 3D and 2D projects. This experience has helped me become a well-rounded generalist capable of helping on projects wherever I am needed.
What specific skills or expertise do you bring to your role, and how do they align with ADM’s goals and values?
My strongest skill is definitely 3D animation, which allows me to create appealing and life-like animations that make projects look professional.
Are there any milestones or accomplishments you’re particularly proud of?
Upon graduating from Ringling College of Art and Design, a partner and I created a short animated thesis film titled “Contracting the Cooties,” in which a 2nd grade girl touches a boy’s hand and gets a nasty case of boy cooties. It was a huge undertaking to create an animated short film on our own, and I am super proud of the outcome.
What interests or hobbies do you pursue outside of work?
Outside of work I take jazz and ballet classes, and I frequently cafe sketch.
Do any of your personal passions influence your work or approach to your role?
My love of dance definitely impacts my animation work, as it really helps me understand body mechanics and human anatomy.
What is your approach to problem-solving or handling challenges in your role?
I am a list-maker. Every time I run into an issue, I make a list of the potential solutions and then dive into research for each one.
How do you collaborate with other team members or departments?
We collaborate all the time. For example, one of the other interns has been doing more modeling work. They sent me a series of models they had cleaned up, and then I added animation to the file. In addition, I recently completed a rig for a project, and then passed that on to another intern to do base posing work to prepare for animation. We split up projects frequently and that helps ensure that everything gets completed in a timely manner.
Can you share a specific instance where your work positively impacted a client or project?
I received positive feedback from my team regarding the first project I worked on. I was tasked with creating a summary of injuries video, in which I had to learn many new skill sets. I was able to get the first pass of the project completed early, and that project has been pretty smooth sailing since.
Are there any areas or skills you are looking to further develop?
I would love to develop my compositing skills. We use a program called Nuke, which is very complicated and I have only really scratched the surface of.
Are there any fun or surprising facts about yourself that you’d like to share?
I am trilingual! I speak English, Hebrew, and I know American Sign Language
