Julia Lopes

3D Generalist

What is your role and primary responsibilities at ADM?

I’m currently an Animation/3D Generalist at ADM. I work alongside the ADM animation team, helping out with the design, render, model, and creation of 3D medical animations for their ongoing client base.

What is your professional background, and how did it lead you to your current position?

I graduated from Ringling College last year with a degree in Computer Animation, and started working in the marketing department of an Investments company based in Florida, mainly as a 2D/3D Design Assistant. I’ve only been at ADM for around a month, but it has been an amazing opportunity to learn how to apply my 3D knowledge to the medical field, and learning about all the work that goes into Court and Trial animations.

What specific skills or expertise do you bring to your role, and how do they align with ADM’s goals and values?

I bring in a wide set of skills within the CG pipeline, which I acquired from my time at Ringling, as well as a variety of 2D skills I picked up from my previous job, including software training and the opportunity to work closely with their Brand and Product Development team. I’m looking forward to applying my skills to the CG work that is being made at ADM, and making a difference in people’s lives through different projects.

Are there any milestones or accomplishments you’re particularly proud of?

Finishing my Senior Thesis Film! It was so rewarding to see it finished after having worked on it for over a year with my thesis partners.

What interests or hobbies do you pursue outside of work?

I really enjoy reading or doing anything crafty! I’m currently getting back into scrap-booking and collaging, and it’s been very fun to get together with friends and just make art.

Do any of your personal passions influence your work or approach to your role?

As someone who grew up going to summer camp, I would say I’ve always been very passionate about team building! I like my enthusiasm and communication skills to reflect on my work and colleagues, so the work environment is an engaging, pleasant place for everyone.

What is your approach to problem-solving or handling challenges in your role?

I like to analyze things from a wider angle, and always look back at whatever reference or project information that’s available in order to fully understand the case. It’s also very helpful to look into any similar projects other people on my team have worked on in the past and try to understand their creative and technical process.

How do you collaborate with other team members or departments?

I’m looking forward to working more with the Design Team and understanding more about ADM as a brand, and how we can incorporate that into different parts of the pipeline. It’s very interesting to see a project come together after different departments have worked on it back and forth.

Are there any areas or skills you are looking to further develop?

I would love to do more animation with real mechanics, and learn more about compositing tips and tricks that go into Medical Animation/Illustration.

Are there any fun or surprising facts about yourself that you’d like to share?

I’m originally from Brazil! I speak Portuguese and a little bit of Spanish.
