Our clients, Terrence Quinn of Phillips Law Offices and Tara Devine of Salvi Schostok & Pritchard had a difficult case in an unfriendly environment. There wasn’t even a settlement offer.

They knew they were going to trial, that they would have to educate a jury on complicated anatomy & pathophysiology. They couldn’t be too antiseptic; the jury would have to empathize with their client.

Their client, a five-year-old girl, suffered from a condition that required her to receive regular blood transfusions.

One of our challenges was to describe how blood transfusions can make the gas exchange within the lungs in a healthy patient more difficult and then how dangerous it was with our client who had unresolved pneumonia.

During the transfusion, she went into respiratory distress and died three hours later.
